Join your band
Invite your bandmates
The Share invite button next to your band code in Band Hub shares a ready-made invite message and join link - a share sheet on phones, copied to your clipboard on desktop, so you can drop it straight into your band's chat. In person, the QR code beside it does the same job. Either way, the link lands the recipient on the download page with their band code already shown.
- Install BandBinder.
- In the app, open Band Hub (the band chip in the header, or Ctrl+B).
- Choose "Join with a band code" and enter your 6-character code (or tap the invite link your bandmate sent - it opens the download page with the code shown) and your name.
Roles: Manager, Contributor, Member
Every band has one Manager - the person who owns the account and admin actions - plus any number of other Members, who join free with the band code. A Manager can promote a Member to Contributor from the member row in Band Hub, opening up write access to the song library.
| What | Manager | Contributor | Member |
|---|---|---|---|
| View songs / setlists | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Add/edit/delete songs | Yes | Yes, once signed in (deletes go to Trash, not permanent) | No |
| Add/edit/delete setlists | Yes | No | No |
| Rename / delete band | Yes | No (Leave) | No (Leave) |
| Rotate band code | Yes | No | No |
| Promote/remove members | Yes | No | No |
A Contributor grant can land on a guest who joined with just a band code, but their write access stays off until they sign in with a real account (Google, Apple, or email) - so a leaked band code can never hand out writes on its own. Until then the app shows "YOU'RE A CONTRIBUTOR / Sign in to start editing". Setlists are Manager-only, even for a signed-in Contributor - see Setlists.
Upgrade to a BandBinder account
A band code works right away as a guest, no account needed. Signing in afterwards with Google, Apple, or email carries everything over: your songs, notes, and band memberships, and your bands rejoin automatically.
Upgrade from Band Hub's Manage menu - "Upgrade account" on iPhone/iPad, or the separate "Upgrade to Google account" / "Upgrade with Apple" / "Upgrade via email" items everywhere else.
Do it so your songbook survives a lost or reset device: a guest identity exists only on the device that created it, while an account can be recovered and signed into on a second device.
If your access didn't carry over
An upgrade or account switch can occasionally fail to rejoin a band, most often because its code has since been rotated. Band Hub flags that band with "Access didn't carry over".
The fix is the same as joining any band: ask the manager for the current code and rejoin with it (step 3 above). A band shows "No longer synced" instead if a manager removed you. Either way your local copy stays on your device, but only rejoining restores live access.
